Bob Iger who is the CEO of Disney gave Marvel fans another conflicting update recently on CNBC. "Conflicting", meaning some fans will find this update good and others it might not sit the best with. He has talked about this before, as well as Marvel's President Kevin Feige. The update is that Marvel( as well as Star Wars) is "Pulling back to find focus and contain costs", and may start branching out to other streaming platforms. Speaking about Marvel, Disney CEO had this to say, “You pull back not just to focus, but also as part of our cost containment initiative. Spending less on what we make, and making less," Bob Iger He goes on to talk about how there were too many projects put out by Marvel, and more specifically TV shows. “Marvel is a great example of that. It had not been in the television business at any significant level, and not only did they increase their movie output, but they ended up making a number of TV series… Frankly, it diluted focus and attention." Disney is openly admitting that they really have been shoving out content and it hasn’t been going so well for them. Iger even mentioned that they would potentially be licensing their content on other platforms such as Netflix, and others. So there might be Marvel content on a variety of different streaming platforms in the future. Disney has reaffirmed their stance on slowing down and holding back on pushing out content as fast as they can. Fans might be upset that we are going to get not as much content that we have been getting these past few years. However, most fans are on board and just want them to focus on quality versus quantity.
